19 July 2004 Rossiyaskaya Newspaper "Following in the footsteps of Pavarotti" Great great grandson of Constantine Stanislavsky, Alex Prior, sang for Meryl Streep at the closure of Moscow Film Festival. Recently he won an International Gold medal at the Llangollen Eisteddfod in Wales. It was on this stage where young Luciano Pavarotti started his international music career. Since then, the stage in Llangollen is considered to bring luck to those making their debuts..... |

"If anybody had not heard about Alex Prior before, then after transmission of the Award ceremony of the 26th Moscow International Film Festival everybody knows him.
11
year old Alex Prior is a singing sensation..."

"The closing ceremony of the 26th Moscow International Film Festival at the end of last month was a triumphant affair.... Meryl Streep was on hand to bring a touch of American-style glamour to the proceedings. She was collecting a lifetime achievement award for dedication to the Stanislavsky acting method from the great man’s great-grandson, Alex Prior - a precocious 11-year-old who brought the actress to her knees with an out-of-the-blue rendition of O Sole Mio. "From all of the singers who performed "for everybody and made all to weep", I will name Dmitriy Hvorostovskiy's concert on Red Square of war-time songs, and the performance of young Alex Prior at the award ceremony of The Moscow Film Festival."

Russia's film industry hit the doldrums after the fall of communism – but now it's riding high. Mark Monahan reports from Moscow
It's a sweltering Sunday evening in Moscow's Pushkin cinema, and a small English boy is on stage singing O Solo Mio to Meryl Streep at the volume of a jet-aircraft. The event is the closing ceremony of the 26th Moscow Film Festival, the bonsai crooner is 11-year-old Alex Prior (a descendant of Russian acting guru Konstantin Stanislavsky, and a darling in Russia), and Miss Streepova – as she sweetly refers to herself – is there to collect a lifetime achievement award named after the great man.
"Meryl Streep was at the 26th Moscow International Festival from the beginning to the end, and even closed it very
touchingly. Before she closed the Festival she received from the hands of the great great
grandson of Konstantin Stanislavsky, 11 year old Alex Prior, a special prize for
high achievement in acting. And Alex gave her another present - a wonderful Neapolitan song."
Translation from Newspaper Rossia, 2.7.04

"As a surprise for the great actress (Meryl Streep) the great great-grandson of Konstantin Stanislavsky - 11
year old singer from London Alex Prior appeared on stage. He is known around the world as a new Robertino Loretti.
Rossiskaya Newspaper has already written about this unique and undisputable talent. But most of the audience heard his powerful voice for the first time, and heard his address to Meryl Streep "O Sole Mio" as some
kind of miracle; the emotional star even kneeled in front of this boy"
